Its less than a week since the World Series ended and Alex Anthopoulos has already been the most visibly active of all the general managers. Martin Caceres Jersey . He may not stop at dealing Adam Lind for right-hander Marco Estrada of the Brewers, either. The most intriguing question is what, if anything, is Anthopoulos going to do with veteran lefty Mark Buehrle? Does he move him now, trade him at the deadline if the Jays are out of it or, knowing his value as a leader and a model of consistency, work towards an extension? I think we can rule out the third option. Buehrle will be 36 in spring training and has made gentle hints about retiring in the not too distant future. He is also going into the final year of his contract at $19 million. Buehrle has made 65 starts for the Blue Jays over the past two seasons. He has 25 wins and had has racked up over 200 innings both years, giving him a run of 14 years in a row of reaching that total. For a soon-to-be 36-year-old hurler, his trade value is probably at its peak. Buehrle gave up just 15 homers in 2014, his fewest in a season since his rookie year. His 3.39 ERA was his lowest since 2005 with the White Sox. If a trade was to be considered now, the Angels might be one of the suitors. They could use another veteran stabilizing arm to round out their rotation. Losing Garrett Richards to injury down the stretch exposed them from a depth standpoint and possibly cost them a shot at least at winning the American League title, if not the World Series. What could the Blue Jays get in return? Possibly veteran 2B Howie Kendrick, whos rumoured to be on the block and is heading into the final year of his deal at $9.5 million. Kendrick isnt the most adept at 2B, but he provides much more at the plate than the Jays received last year. Over nine seasons, all with the Halos, he has a .292 average and has knocked in fewer than 61 runs just once in the last six seasons. The Blue Jays might have to eat part of Buehrles contract or take on another player to make the numbers balance out. If the Blue Jays fancy themselves as contenders, though, the best option might be to keep Buehrle for now and see how things shake down by the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline. The demand for starting pitching could be even more intense by then. The Blue Jays other big money question mark is Jose Reyes. The Blue Jays owe their veteran shortstop $22 million per season in each of the next three years, plus a club-option year in 2018 worth another $22 million or, failing that, a $4 million buyout. Although still a decent contributor at the plate, Reyess range at short has diminished to be the point where he is bordering on being a liability in the field. Playing on artificial turf doesnt help him either. I can only think of three teams who might be interested in Reyes - the Yankees, the Dodgers and the Mets. The Yanks might want a marquee shortstop replacement for Derek Jeter. The Dodgers might be able to use him if Hanley Ramirez walks as a free agent and Reyes was a fan favourite and a star in his earlier stint with the Mets. The Dodgers would seem to make the most sense, since there are so seldom deals between clubs these days in the AL East and the Mets are still operating under the kind of budget that would probably preclude bringing back Reyes. The Dodgers angle has a possibly snag, as well. Los Angeles might insist on the Jays taking back the contract of one of their surplus outfielders, say Andre Ethier, but unless they lose Melky Cabrera to free agency, there would be no point in the Jays agreeing to that. Ethier can play all over the outfield and has a .285 career average to go with a pair of All-Star appearances, a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger Award. He also turns 33 in April and has a contract nearly as hefty as Reyess and his numbers have dropped off the last two seasons, partly due to the overcrowded situation in the Dodgers outfielder. Ethier is owed $53.5 million over the next three seasons and then has a vesting option for 2018 worth $17.5 million or a $2.5 million dollar buyout. The Blue Jays could again broach the subject of Reyes moving to second base, but Jose was reluctant to do that in the past. The bottom line is, the Jays highest-paid position player and pitcher will likely remain with the club for awhile yet. -- The Arizona Fall League held its Fall Stars game on Sunday night. The East beat the West, 6-2, and the Blue Jays two representatives on the East squad made contributions. Dalton Pompey, who started in centre field and batted lead-off, hit a two-run triple in the second as part of a four-run frame (although, later on in the game, he made an error). Nineteen-year-old right-hander Roberto Osuna, whos highly touted by the organization, came on in the eighth inning, retired both batters he faced and was credited with a hold. The AFL can be a bit of a fast track to the Majors. A year ago, Marcus Stroman, Drew Hutchison and Aaron Sanchez all pitched there and all three went on to make significant contributions to the Blue Jays last season. -- Its great news that Paul Molitor is going to be the next manager of the Twins. At one point, I though the MVP of the 1993 World Series might become skipper of the Blue Jays, but getting the shot in his home state with the Twins is the best fit for Molly and his family. -- There is already talk that the smaller-market Royals may trade their star closer Greg Holland in a package to get a right fielder to replace Nori Aoki, who seems destined to leave as a free agent. Andrea Barzagli Juventus Jersey . -- During a players meeting following the All-Star break, Jermaine ONeal promised his teammates to play the rest of the regular season like he would never play again -- because he very well might not. Andrea Barzagli Jersey . Toronto announced the deal with the restricted free agent on Saturday. The terms were not disclosed. www.soccerjuventusproshop.com/kids-claudio-marchisio-juventus-jersey/ .com) - The Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies have finalized their agreed-upon trade that sends former National League MVP Jimmy Rollins to the West Coast for a pair of minor league pitching prospects.TORONTO -- If the eye-catching smile doesnt get you, the electric play on the basepaths will. Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes gets peoples attention with his unique brand of baseball. Hes a dynamo with great range in the field and track star speed. And over the last week or two, he finally looks like the Reyes of old. The three-time all-star, one of the key pieces in a November 2012 blockbuster trade with Miami, was hampered by injury problems in his first season in Toronto. It was more of the same earlier this year as a tight hamstring kept him out of the lineup for a few weeks. Once he returned, it took some time for Reyes to find his rhythm. The leadoff hitter has found it now and his play is a big reason why the Blue Jays have moved to the top of the American League East division standings. "He makes us that much better," said Blue Jays manager John Gibbons. "Hes really the catalyst because hes up at the top of the lineup." A revitalized starting rotation and homer-happy lineup are two big reasons why the Blue Jays are flying high. But Reyes has provided the powerful Toronto offence with a real edge since his return. With impressive bat skills and a constant threat to run, Reyes offers a nice contrast to the big swingers like Melky Cabrera, Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Bautista who usually follow him in the order. Pitchers have a hard time concentrating on the plate with a speedster like Reyes on base. "Hes so capable of stirring things up," said Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon. "Hes one of those catalysts. Theres a few real catalytic players in the game and hes one of them." Reyes, who had three hits in Wednesdays 3-2 win over the Rays, had an 11-game hitting streak end a night later. He had his first three-steal game as a Blue Jay last weekend and wowed the Rogers Centre crowd by scoring from second base on a groundout. "Hes one of those guys thats hard to take your eye off of when youre watching a baseball game," said Toronto second baseman Steve Tolleson. "Hes able to do so many things offensively and defensively. Defensively hes able to play a little bit deeper than most shortstops because he has a tremendous arm and he has the speed to close in on balls that he needs to. "Hes in an elite group when it comes to that. Hes been a lot of fun to watch." However, Reyes isnt immune to the occasional hiccup in the field. He made a throwing error on a potential game-ending ground ball Thursday night and the Royals came back to win 8-6 in 10 innings. Claudio Marchisio Jersey. He took full ownership for the miscue after the game. "This is baseball, sometimes mistakes are going to happen," Reyes said. "I just have to learn from it." Despite the occasional negative, the native of Santiago, Dominican Republic brings plenty of positives to the diamond. In a game earlier this week, Reyes dropped a soft bunt down in his first at-bat. He accelerated like a shot and seemed to be halfway down the first-base line by the time the pitcher left the mound to retrieve the ball before conceding the single. When the next batter belted one off the wall, Reyes was quickly in full flight and scored with a head-first slide. Its the kind of get-your-jersey-dirty, fast-paced style that fans and teammates love. "The last few weeks my leg feels good," Reyes said. "Its good to play pain-free. I dont have to worry about anything. Before, four or five weeks ago, I still had a little concern with my hamstring being 100 per cent. "But right now its 110 per cent." Reyes, 30, who won a batting title with the New York Mets in 2011, has seen his average rise as his comfort level returned. Entering the game against the Royals, he has reached base safely in 24 of his last 25 games. The three-time National League stolen base leader (2005-07) has also swiped 11 bags over the last 25 games entering Thursdays matchup. His well-rounded game is a big reason why Torontos offence is so feared. "When they made the trade and brought him in last year, I think thats what everybody kind of envisioned," Gibbons said. "Hes been banged up a little bit since hes been here but now hes healthy. "What hes doing now is really what hes done his whole career and so I think people are just really getting a look at it." Reyes also brings an infectious personality to the ballpark and is usually the first one out of the dugout to congratulate his teammates. More than anything, he has the ability to put the Blue Jays in a position to manufacture runs. Whether through stolen bases, sacrifices or just aggressive base-running, Reyes can often secure that extra base and create more scoring opportunities. "Im capable of doing a lot of stuff," Reyes said. "People (have) seen (over) the last few weeks what Im able to do on the field."
