The Boston Bruins saw their six game winning streak come to a end Thursday night, as the B s fell to the Ottawa Senators in a shootout, 2 1, at TD Garden.

Drew Stafford scored for the Bruins, who fall to 43 30 7 on the year, while Tuukka Rask stopped 25 of 26 shots in the loss.

Even without their top goalscorer in Brad Marchand who will miss the final two games of the regular season due to a suspension the Bruins still fired 29 shots against Ottawa goaltender Craig Anderson.

Anderson did not budge, however, relinquishing just one goal while stopping all three of Boston s attempts in the shootout to secure the win.

With the loss, Boston currently sits one point behind Ottawa in the Atlantic Division with 95 points.

The Bruins opened scoring on the power play at 10 37 in the first www.senatorshockeygear.com/erik-karlsson-jersey-c-22.html, with Stafford recording his eighth goal of the season and his second in as many games.

With Ottawa shorthanded off of a tripping penalty against Mark Borowiecki, Boston capitalized with Zdeno Chara passing the puck over to Stafford Zack Smith Jersey, who skated behind Ottawa s net.

With Anderson slightly out of position www.senatorshockeygear.com/cody-ceci-jersey-c-19.html, Stafford found the back of the net off of a wraparound goal, bouncing the puck off of Anderson s pads to put Boston ahead.
While Boston ended the first period with the lead, the Bruins suffered a major loss on the blue line, as defenseman Torey Krug only skated out on a few shifts before leaving the game with a lower body injury.

Krug leads all of Boston s defensemen in scoring on the season www.senatorshockeygear.com/marc-methot-jersey-c-24.html, scoring eight goals and adding 43 assists over 81 games.

Ottawa s patented neutral zone trap slowed play in the second period, with both squads combining for just 14 shots in the middle stanza. However, one of the Senators attempts found twine, as Alexandre Burrows beat Rask off an unassisted score at 7 37 to knot the game at 1 1.

The Bruins struggled to generate much offense in the third, firing their first shot on goal with 9 49 remaining in the period in what was a listless 20 minutes for both teams.

After overtime failed to produce a winner, Kyle Turris clinched two points for Ottawa in the opening round of the shootout beating Rask after a series of dekes to give the Senators a lead that they did not relinquish.

The Bruins will close out their regular season Saturday afternoon, as they will host the Washington Capitals at 3 p.m.
